Hi {!firstname_fix}

Well, it is cool in the mornings in New Mexico these days. But oh my, how I love the air. The light has shifted as well. Last night at that time of day when the sun is very low on the horizon, it was like being in a cathedral. The light on the adobe on the house across the street took my breath away.

All this work will create enormous gains for you. As you *do the food* you are going to reconnect with your birthright.

** Testimonial for the Week**

So my original question, "What does a mature relationship with a journal look like?" seems to have evolved as many answers as there are people journeying with it. It's a Science Log, a Touchstone, a Safety Net, a Truth-Sword, a Song, a Dance, a Commitment, a Friend at the End of the Day, a Prayer. J

**Your Last Diet: More Than What You Think**

Last week we did a chat on entitlement and blame. We often discuss what I have written in the newsletter and it becomes a very dynamic dialogue (Your Latest Dialogue). It was one of the more exciting chats we have had. We talked about learning how recognizing entitlement and blame in our thought patterns can give us a way to know when the food is off. I am always amazed at the depth of the thoughtfulness and insight of the chat members. Just took my breath away.

This will be the last of our lifetime special. As you know, YLDonline has been a lifetime membership program. I will continue this option through tomorrow. Starting in September, memberships will be annual. If you have purchased a membership before September 1, 2004, it will be lifetime. After that, it will renew each year.

Come join us and hear about this success!

**Radiant Ambassadors**

I didn't make it to the chat last night because my kids were putting on plays and last night was the performance. But what was specifically wonderful about these plays were how it all started.

As I started working through the program, my closest friend began to see how she was ss and started the program, too. It's been a couple of years and now her life is blossoming. She has passion for two things: kids and theater. Step 7 has led her to combining these two things and now she is starting her own drama/improv classes for kids of all ages. She started this year with the kids of a few friends to try it out and see what happens. (What I love about what she does is that it's not about performance for the audience's sake, but for the performer's. The improv part develops life skills by enforcing teamwork and finding joy in messing up. And she teaches all aspects of drama, front to backstage.)

So, our kids got to produce, direct and write a play. They developed all the characters and improvised all the scenes. (Ages 4-6 did one and then ages 7-9.) My friend helped with the writing and guided them the rest of the way, but they really worked hard. They "owned" the entire thing, down to the creation of robotical mice costumes fashioned from carboard, duct tape and foil. Oh, I wish you all could have seen the plays! You would have loved them. They were so good, because they came from the heart of these kids. But my friend made it happen and she was glowing last night (AFTER it was over, anyway, LOL).

I'm sharing this with you because I feel so much love for my friend because she is living her dream, partly, or even mostly because of this program. Secondly, I'm sharing because I feel so happy for our kids to be part of healing and recovering lives. They get to enjoy the benefits of us doing the program. I feel blessed.

I just had to share that!

If you love the program, consider joining the ambassador group. We are having a blast!

On The Art of Journaling
by Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D.

I think it is easy to find the journal a pain in the you know what when you don't *use* it. Or when you don't want to *see* what it says. But when it becomes a tool, and you like the information, then it comes alive. Let me give you a specific example. Yesterday I was prowling around feeling grumpy. And I was thinking about sweet things, LOL. I wrote in my journal, *I have no idea what is going on*..then this little voice says, *Oh, count back 4 days and see what you find, woman!*. Well, four days ago I made the decision to cut butter out of my diet. Butter raises BE. 4 day effect = craving and grumpy. I was just laughing at myself.

Now, I like to think of myself as pretty skilled with my food. But without my journal, I would be just plain stupid because I do not and cannot remember the kinds of details that tell me what is really going on. I would like to think I do, but I do not. I miss the details where the data is.

So here is the thing...if some one comes in and YELLS, 'I HATE MY JOURNAL'!!!!!!!, my response is *Oh, don't be silly, don't bother with it. We are such drama puppies. That is part of being sugar sensitive. But....(smile) if you want what we have, do what we do.

If you want to stay wrapped in fuzz and depression and drama, then you can do that too. And I do not mean this judgmentally at all. I say this to myself. If I get sloppy with my food plan, and I do from time to time, then my life gets sloppy. It took a long time to accept the direct correlation. I didn't want it to be that way. I wanted it to be *stress* or getting older or the time of the year. But it is not, It is the quality of my food plan...which means food, timing, JOURNAL.

Many people ask what kind of journal, what do I write, how much do I write, what if I just put fine a hundred times, what if I lose it, what if someone reads it and a thousand other questions. It really is very simple. We made up a journal for you that works really well. If you don't like that one, get one that suits you. Use a simple note book. Write enough to know the story. This is for you, not for perfection. Give yourself data. If you put *fine* in for your feelings a hundred times, use the feelings list in Your Body Speaks to teach yourself new words for *fine.* If you lose it, get another. If someone reads it, shrug and keep writing. This is not a personal, intimate discussion where you bare your soul, it is a log to teach you to make connections about how you feel and how you do your program. You don't know yet how they correspond. Journal, journal carefully, and find out. If you want what we have, do what we do.
