Fast Food That Fits

We have been gathering information from a group of folks who have been doing the food plan for a while and feel pleased with how it is going. We asked them about fast food options.

While several of our "pros" said they don't use fast-food places anymore, here are some recommendations from those who still do.

Jane-Anne: Breakfast is always safe. You can order bacon and eggs and potatoes at any Lyon's, Denny's or Pancake House. I usually order a vegetarian omelet with hash browns and always feel really good afterwards because I haven't had to make any special requests!

Sarah M.: I carry my own favorite salad dressing and get whatever salad is available. Last week it was a Grilled Chicken Deluxe Salad at McDonald's, which (I must admit) I ate with french fries. I hear that in some areas, McDonald's offers chef salad as well. There's also a decent baked potato with cheese and broccoli at Wendy's and the egg salad sandwich at Denny's. Another option of mine is to go to a Mexican food place and ask them to make me a chicken burrito on a whole wheat tortilla, which I bring with me. I also ask them to substitute lettuce for rice.

BB: If I eat fast foods, it's almost always potatoes „ like baked potatoes with some cheese on it from the salad bar.

Yolanda G: Sometimes I'll have pizza and eat the toppings and the cheese, but leave the crust.

TK: I get a sandwich or burger and don't eat the bread. Ditto if I'm having Chinese or Japanese fast food -I eat the veggies and meat and leave the white rice.
