Gigi,
The first thing I thought of when you mentioned this was serotonin. I know that repetitive motion raises serotonin...so chewing, as in chewing gum? Especially since you said to calm your nerves...an article from the RR website about serotonin mentions:
When your serotonin is at an ideal level, you feel mellow and relaxed, hopeful and optimistic.
Anyway, just my thoughts for this evening!
Colette
: Recently I mentioned in an off hand
: way that "my mouth was hungry
: but my stomach wasn't."
: It just came out, it's something I
: don't think I've ever been aware
: of.
: I got two good replies to my comment
: but I want to ask all of you if
: you've experienced anything like
: this and what you think it means?
: I'm sure it means I'm more aware
: of my body but beyond that --
: maybe I use chewing and gnawing on
: food to calm my nerves or take my
: mind off something?
: It could have been celery, almonds,
: carrots, I wasn't thinking sugar.
: Is must be an emotional need.....?
: Anybody have any ideas, I'd love to
: hear what you think.
: Thanks!
: Gigi
: PS I didn't act on my thoughts, I
: just noted it and went to sleep.
