Hi {!firstname_fix}

We are in the middle of Radiant Ranch in Albuquerque. Seventy people have come from twenty four states and the UK. As always, the connection is wonderful. This is the tenth year of ranch. What started as a tiny little gathering up in Northern New Mexico has become an enduring tradition of coming home once a year to connect and record our growth. We always welcome newcomers and delight in sharing the program.

These classes will begin Wednesday, May 7, 2008. Please click on the name of the class you wish to join and it will take you to the registration page:

New Science is a class to learn about new science affecting sugar sensitivity, sugar addiction and other issues affecting us. I was over looking at what is being published and got really excited. I thought you would love to hear some of the lab stuff that is happening. I figure if it excites me, it is going to excite you

Step 1: The Art of Breakfast our foundation class to get you started. Learn all four parts of step 1 in a structured way. Learn how to progress through them with enjoyment. Let us support getting your program off to a fabulous start.

The class schedule is on line. Click here to see what is planned. Please do not sign up for classes that are not yet scheduled.

A number of you have asked me how the classes work. Check the class list page for more information on this. The classes are done online and you do not have to be at your computer at any set time. It does not matter whether you are in the US, Europe, the Far East or Australia, you simply respond on your own time. And although I advertise that the classes are one or two weeks, sometimes we are a little flexible and they may run longer.

And please go read the questions and answers before you write to me. If you have trouble getting through the process, write the tech forum.

Please feel free to pass this week's newsletter on to your friends and family. Don't forget to let me know what you like and would like to see me cover.

Be sure to visit our Radiant Recovery¨ website and Community Forum regularly.

Warmly,
Kathleen

** Testimonial for the Week**

We went to Texas ( I live in California) last Thurs. thru Sun. for a family reunion/Bat Mitzvah. It was nice to see family, though it is often a stress dealing with old family dysfunction stuff.

But I did well with breakfasts in the hotel. They had continental breakfasts and I brought zip locked bags of premeasured thick cut oats and used the hot tea water and their bowl and utensils to make it. They had hard boiled eggs one morning and no proteins the other mornings, but luckily I had purchased some string cheese and cottage cheese for snacks and ended up using it for the other mornings for protein. (We had a refrig in the room.) We did have one day where they had extensive power outages and there wasn't power to make oats. That day I had cheerios for a brown. That was the best I could do. Haven't had those in years.

I was happy to have a good breakfast under my belt each day as the family gatherings had some heavy duty food. I was pretty well controlled the rest of the day even with sweets (I'm on step 2 and not off sugar yet.) My food started to escalate on the last day, and I think that was due to not journalling the whole time and eating over uncomfortable family interactions.

It was nice to be back in my own kitchen today and get back to my regular food. Today's bfast was:

2oz canned salmon- about a 1/2 can
1 scrambled egg
8 oz lentils/split peas/yam (my favorite breakfast brown-holds me longer than grain)
veggies-cooked frozen as I hadn't been to the store yet
1 tsp fish oil

I'm so used to measuring from all the years in OA. I still feel most comfortable with my scale. Though I've given up measuring my veggies. I notice I don't fret as much when I don't have my scale in RR.

**Your Last Diet: More Than What You Think**

YLDonline is a membership program run directly by Kathleen DesMaisons herself.

No questions, but I often forget about all the extras in there. I need to remember that. I love chat. I try to go to the regular Wed. night chat as well as Eurochat and sometimes I pop into the newbie chat too. There is something almost magical about chat. It means that each week I commit, check in, connect. And I receive energy, information, ideas, support, and caring. Even if I just sit quietly and read, there is a different energy being present and doing it live as opposed to just reading the transcripts (although they are wonderful for when I can’t make it). I feel like chat gives us an extra leg up in doing the program.

safe place cd

Yep the meditation is a bit like rewiring our brains. There is no doubt they can be hard wired to the stress. It was like that for me too. I ordered Kathleen's Safe Place CD from the store. I am finding that so amazing in calming my thoughts. Even when I feel stress kicking in I hear the music from the tape play in my head. I put my ipod on most days and play it while I do chores, when I walk, when I do Emails. I just find ways to fit it in. I listen to it again and again and again. Just have it on repeat.

It's like having someone wrap a warm blanket around me and tell me everything's OK.

Just a thought since anxiety and stress aggravates IBS. It may be something that would help you too.

Please send questions and suggestions. I love hearing from you and truly want to help you do your program better.
