Re: high blood pressure

Diane, my husband is on medication for high blood pressure. He is also salt sensitive. When he eats a lot of salt, his blood pressure is higher and his fingers swell and he retains water. Too bad I'm not the salt sensitive one instead, because I don't like salt nearly as much as he does. And it's annoying how many foods have salt in them. Even the chicken breasts we buy have had salt injected into them. It makes me mad - when I buy meat, I want it not to be altered. Anyway, I guess when people are salt sensitive, even medication may not always control blood pressure. Probably better to limit salt than increase medication.

Have you started this program yet, or were you just trying to figure out if it is right for you? I've been doing the program since December of 1998 and it has done wonders for me. I'm in my 50's now and my blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides etc are all excellent. If I had kept eating the way I was when I started, I'm not sure they would have be. And I feel so much better physically and mentally - steady energy, no more blood sugar crashes, no more depression.
