I generally eat something before exercise (about 1 hour before) instead of after so I don't get depleted and am not starving after. I have protein, something like cheese, and a complex carb. That is also what I would eat if I needed a snack after. I also like Elaine's yam bar recipe that is on the recipe page in the resource center. My husband and I carry those with us when we are hiking.
