Re: Breakfast. What DID it actually do for me ?

Hi Pam,

So glad you posted this! Well I guess we are definitely in the right place then, huh!?

I recently discovered a food combination that I love, and it's kept me steady on breakfast so far. Or when I do get off track, I get right back on the next day. Who knew!! Haha. So I think that is key, finding something you actually love to *eat*, not just love how you can avoid doing a lot of dishes later (that was me, lol)....

And actually, if you keep practicing and trying things out I am confident you will eventually come around to something you love. For me, the issue was I preferred solid foods but just couldn't for the life of me get them all down, certainly not within an hour. I felt like a competitive eater. Kathleen gently reminded me, no, that is not the goal here...lol...

Bacon and eggs type foods were just way too greasy and rich for me. So I was doing shake for a while, and I liked that I was finally able to get all my protein this way. I did that for a while, and it seemed like bodybuilding for my stomach, training my stomach to handle all that protein. So one day I decided to give bacon and eggs another try.... I found turkey bacon was less greasy, and cooking the eggs in olive oil instead of butter was less rich..... greek yogurt is not greasy at all..... magically I was able to eat it all without struggling or feeling gross :)

So with practice I've worked out my sort of formula, I need 34g so it's turkey bacon (enough to make 8g protein, and yes I will rip a piece in half to get the grams right), 2 eggs (12g protein), and a Greek yogurt cup (14g, more expensive than the big fat tub but saves me the trouble of measuring). My brown is hot grains that I cook in the rice cooker beforehand (various types of rice, barleys, quinoa, etc) and then just microwave.

I would have thought in the past that's all too much trouble and sounds incredibly boring and blah blah blah but now it just works and I don't feel the urges to run wild with other breakfasts so much. :h4) Like the idea of finding "the one" and settling down whereas before I was a "cereal" dater and always some new breakfast fling..Sure I don't eat the same thing every day, but I also found a couple backup foods I love (frozen breakfast burritos) so when I do feel lazy or bored I just switch over to those.

Anyways sorry for the long ramble, I hope you keep posting!
